Betty: Checking Out!

Mara and Jimmy left work about noon to take the 3 hour drive to Cornell to pick up Betty.  During the ride, I was getting texts..lots of them.  The ride seemed to take a week.  Then finally the text said “Pulling into the hospital.”

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is here.  Mara and Jimmy got to see not-blind Betty for the first time since the surgery!  I got a text saying “Her eyes are beatiful and brown and she’s looking around at everything…taking it all in.”

We hear she is walking on the leash crazily…and it is going to be a challenge to keep her from hurting herself.  She seems to have a new jet engine ready to take off and explore the world.  Hold on, Betty!  Let’s get through the next few weeks so everything can heal!   She wants to run and see things she’s never seen before.   She’s a bucking bronco waiting for the gate to open.

Thank goodness these caring volunteers aren’t afraid of medications.  There is a giant bag of them; each one having its own set of instructions.   They were even given a chart to keep track and on the top it says “I Love My Beagle.”  Now that’s a nice touch…good job Cornell!

Won’t it be fun to watch her progress!

Arooo,
