It was inevitable. Betty’s foster family, Jimmy & Mara Burns, who were with her every step of the way, just couldn’t let her go. She had been through so much…the blindness, the surgery, the regress back to blindness. They fell in love with her and to her benefit, she will be living with them forever now! Congratulations Betty and The Burns family of Delanson, NY!!
This sweet soul was found lost and wandering, shivering, crying for help. You see, she is blind and was either dumped by her owner or she wandered off. The shelter picked her up and hoped her owner would come looking for her but nobody did. She is a sweet, happy go lucky girl, who was a staff favorite. Her personality won them over. When space became an issue and her time had run out, they reached out to us for help. The last thing they wanted was for her to be euthanized. She deserved a chance. We took her with open arms, thanks to our willing and experienced foster who adopted a blind beagle from us in years prior. The vet at the shelter examined her and he feels that her blindness is caused by cataracts. This may be correctable so we need to get her to a specialist. They do have cataract surgery for dogs who are the right candidates.
[info] We have now raised the funds necessary for Betty to have her eye surgery! She is scheduled for March 13 at Cornell University vet hospital! Thank you to all of her supporters. [/info]
