And so I say goodbye . . .

My dear Smokey - I brought you home today, one last time. I could no longer
hold and comfort you as I did in the past,
but you knew I was there.
I miss your prance, your howl, your eager
anticipation of food and treats.
Always you would look for me, my special boy.
You filled a void in my heart when it
was empty, and I hope I filled the void
in your life when you needed love,
understanding and patience.

Rest easy now, my boy.
I will see you again some day.
