Laboratory Beagle Adoption Division - For Research Facilities
CBR-East understands the difficulties presented to universities and private companies and corporations who need to use beagles in their biomedical research protocols. Many times, however, euthanasia is not a necessary endpoint, and adoptable beagles are available at the end of a study. When the dogs cannot be used for any reason, e.g. have aged out of a study, are too small, are having reactions to certain procedures, cannot be used elsewhere for other studies, etc., adoption is a reasonable outcome, and CBR-East is willing to assist. Adoption is, after all, an "R" - Refinement!
We're available to answer your questions, and address your concerns to the best of our ability. We can do so on the phone* or via email - whatever you are most comfortable with. We are also willing to come and give a presentation to your company/corporation either about developing your own adoption program, or on ways in which CBR-East, or other rescues may be able to assist you. Your confidentiality will be maintained at all times, so there is little risk in just gathering information. Just please take the chance and send us an email for more information. During the process, we can offer you personal references from within the research community.
